Tretinoin

Tretinoin is a topical retinoid medication derived from vitamin A. It is primarily used for the treatment of acne, but it is also prescribed for reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. This is the most powerful prescription grade ingredient for anti-ageing and personally are favourite ingredient!

Common side effects include skin dryness, peeling, redness, and irritation. Tretinoin can increase sensitivity to sunlight, so it's important to use sunscreen during treatment. It should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Ascorbic Acid

Ascorbic Acid or vitamin C, is a naturally occurring antioxidant. It is commonly used in skincare products for its ability to brighten the skin, improve collagen production, and protect against free radical damage.

Ascorbic acid is generally safe when applied topically. However, it can cause mild skin irritation in some individuals. People with sensitive skin should perform a patch test before using products containing high concentrations of vitamin C.

Azelaic Acid

Azelaic Acid is a topical medication used to treat acne and rosacea. It works by reducing inflammation and killing bacteria on the skin's surface.

Possible side effects include skin irritation, burning, and itching. It can also cause mild skin peeling. Some individuals may be allergic to azelaic acid and should discontinue use if they experience severe irritation or an allergic reaction.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps retain moisture in the skin. In skincare products, it is used to hydrate and plump the skin.

Hyaluronic acid is usually well-tolerated and is suitable for all skin types. It rarely causes adverse reactions. However, in very rare cases, some individuals may experience an allergic reaction. It is essential to use hyaluronic acid products as directed and avoid overuse, as excessive moisture retention can lead to skin congestion.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3. It is used in skincare products for its ability to improve the skin's barrier function, reduce inflammation, and minimise the appearance of pores.

Niacinamide is well-tolerated by most individuals and rarely causes side effects. It is generally considered safe for all skin types. However, some people with very sensitive skin may experience mild irritation.
