The Skincare Trends Worth Paying Attention to in 2025

The Skincare Trends Worth Paying Attention to in 2025

At The Skin Diary, we’re not really one for skincare trends; we believe that skincare should be science-led, not trend-led. However, we couldn’t help but throw in our 2025 skincare predictions based on what we’re celebrating for the year ahead.

1. Hyper-personalised skincare

You’ve probably heard of bespoke skincare, but have you heard of hyper-personalised skincare? Yes, there’s a difference. We believe that you deserve more than an algorithm . not built by an algorithm but built by humans; giving you one-to-one care.

Sure, there are instances where an algorithm is brilliant but when it comes to follow-up dermatological care; nothing beats that of an actual dermatologist. That’s why hyper-personalised skincare is up there with one of our top trends of 2025 — and one we’re leading the way with.

Our Chapters routines are created bespoke for you with regular check-ins and photo updates to give our dermatologists the most accurate representation of how your skin is progressing. They make the final decisions as to how you’re scaled based on your feedback. There’s no algorithm making mistakes that could potentially limit your skin’s progress.

2. Well-ageing

We’re introducing a new concept: well-ageing. At The Skin Diary, ageing goes beyond the cosmetic aspect.

"Ageing well is about preserving healthy skin function— cosmetic improvement is an added bonus,” — Dr. Tamara Griffiths, consultant dermatologist and head of product innovation at The Skin Diary.

When we focus on well-ageing, we’re focusing on skin health and repairing the accumulation of damage to our skin that occurs over our lifetime. By focusing on skin health and repair, our skin doesn’t just look younger, but it also behaves younger. This means that as we age, we’re less likely to suffer from skin disease and frailty, which can lead to issues like dermatoporosis.

Well-ageing uses science-first approaches to skincare that contributes to repairing damaged cells and protecting healthy cells. By focusing on skin health, we’re giving our skin the best chance; one that goes well beyond the cosmetic elements of our skin.

3. Rigorous testing

You’d think that all skincare on the market has to be tested to such a high level that we know it works, right? Well, not exactly. Rigorous testing is a trend we’re like to see more of in 2025 because we think you deserve the best of the best for your skin.

Our Night Repair Therapy has had the highest level of scientific testing: double-blind, placebo trials on human skin.

4. Not having to put up with irritation

It’s a myth that for skincare to work it has to cause irritation. This is particularly true for retinoids, which, believe it or not, you don’t always have to put up with irritation for.

That’s why we use scaling with Chapters prescription skincare routines. This way, sensitivity is decreased while still seeing results. With Night Repair Therapy, you can have all the impressive results without the irritation.

 5. Smarter-than-ever SPF

The days of thick, chalky and horrid-to-wear sunscreen is over. Now, formulas are more elegant than ever, prioritising protection and a pleasant wearing experience. They’re lightweight, moisturising, work well under makeup, and in some cases, smell lovely, too.

This is important because the best sunscreen is the one you’ll like because it means you’ll actually use it. It’s no good thinking about using sunscreen, you’ve got to be committed to applying it daily to get the benefits from it.
